Was this restaurant called Budapest in the 80's??
Excellent food, helpful employees, consistently awesome vibes. They charge affordable pricing and the food quality is fantastic. Great work.
MoreThe staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean yet they did not request to take covid-19 tracing information which kind of was disappointing. Otherwise the service and food was delicious.
MoreTried the goulash soup. It was a great soups but lacked a goulash flavour. The beets were great. The Parisian Schnitzel was huge. It too lacked seasoning . Service was good . Cash only. Value for what you pay is high. Taxes are included in price of each meal.
MoreI had the platter for 2, it was enough for us to be stuffed and have left overs! Was absolutely delicious, better than home cooking. Thank you chef
MoreThis a great way to try some Hungarian dishes without leaving the heart of the annex . They are pretty in terms of being traditional to Hungarian cuisine with their on twist on it. Not as good as nagymama’s cooking but did enjoy this place very much.
MoreGreat food and service. Schnitzel, sausage, cabbage rolls. Bar service unfortunately no beer on tap. The restaurant gets crowded but this makes the dining experience fun and family style. Nice place for small groups and to eat alone. I still give this place 5 stars in spite of the shortcomings. The food is good and reasonably priced. Cash only. ABM machine on site.
MoreWould be a huge 5* if not for the price being a little much. The schnitzel is top notch, the staff are soooo lovely and the atmosphere is straight from Hungary. We had a great time here and were more than filled up, what a treat! Their deserts are great as well.
Morevery good food...massive portions! and very friendly service! reservations definitely needed for dinner, and do remember this place is cash only... :)
MoreLove this place. Been going here with family for over a decade. Remodelled a bit recently. Nothing too fancy, but if you want authentic schnitzel at a good price this is the spot. Big portions. Good selection of European dishes and dessert check out the platter for 2. 3 could easily share it.
MoreFood was Beyond this world, Delicious, Rustic, Homey, Filling, Great Food for your $$$I'd 125% recommend ANYONE to try this. You'd be Impressed
MoreGreat, cheap food at this location. The food doesn’t blow me away, but it’s consistent and good quality Cash only.
MoreI'm not too familiar with Hungarian food but flavour wise I thought it was delicious. Staff were quite nice as well.
MoreRceieved chicken schnitzel instead of Wiener (Veal) schnitzel. And over breaded to hide that it was a very sorry thin slice of chicken! Two stars instead one just because I had had better experiences with the resturant before.
MoreAlways tasty! They really do need to stop with the 'cash only' policy though.
Very clean place and well arranged furnitures, yummy food and friendly staff.👌
Amazing food! So tasty! Schnitzels were enormous and the gizzard goulash/stew was incredible! Always worth the drive to Toronto!
MoreI'm Hungarian. I brought my dad here for his birthday and he cried because the food tasted like his moms when he was growing up. It's that good.
MoreHaving been all over Eastern Europe, especially Czech and Hungary, I’ve been searching for a restaurant in the city that does authentic food and this is it! One of my family’s favourite places in the city it’s so good! Schnitzel is massive, cucumber salad is simple yet delicious, pierogies are tasty and even their vegetarian options are solid. Chicken paprikash is like you’re sitting in Budapest! Staff are great, and very attentive. Tried a ton of other so called authentic Eastern European places around the city and this one takes the cake. I’ll be coming back here for many years. I believe it’s cash only so make sure you come prepared
MoreThe food is just like my mother made. I like the plastic containers that you use, as they give a really good portion of food. The only thing I would suggest is looking into the white or brown containers as they are recyclable and the black ones aren't.
MoreJust ordered from there via UberEats for the first time. And Oh My Schnitzel!! It was Sooo good! We will definitely order again from there. Cabbage rolls were fresh, schnitzel was amazing and so tasty!! Thank you so much!
MoreBorn and raised in Hungary. Decor is totally fine and food is just like back home.... Must go! Huge portions, great value for money
MoreAmazing Hungarian food. The schnitzel with dumplings and beets are to die for. Also a huge fan of the friendly service and general home style atmosphere.
MoreThis is unquestionably one of the best place to eat in the neighborhood. Always when I come there I am greatly glad. They always keep their high standard service and the topmost level of food they serve. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Warmly recommended.
Morehiii everyone, i visit this place with my wife. we ordered the food. the decoration was pretty good but the reason i gave just 1 star the good is worst i never ate food like that. the preparation of food looks good but taste was nothing. that day my wife got anger on me that i took her to that place. after that when we asked for bill but they were very busy then we waited there at least for 45 min just to pay them for that worst food which we not ate. thankyou
MoreGreat Service Every Time-- the food never fails to satisfy your taste buds
Amazing Hungarian food. My family is Hungarian and this reminds us of authentic home cooked food. Very hearty and filling. The cabbage rolls are humongous and flavorful. Attentive wait staff. Clean. Kind of pricey for what feels like a diner.
MoreJust ordered via DoorDash, we ordered the platter for 2 and it's amazing. There is so much delicious Hungarian food. We miss Eastern European food and super glad we found this place! Thanks very much.
MoreGreat food, nice staff and cheap prices. What more do you need!
Love this place but make sure you are hungry as the portions are huge! The hunter schnitzel is a favourite especially with dumplings. My husband is very fussy about cabbage rolls and he loves theirs! The staff is lovely and very efficient. Must visit local spot for delicious Hungarian food!
MoreI really enjoyed the presentation of the Wooden Platter. It also tasted pretty good and was filling. They were a little slow filling our water and checking in on us after our order arrived. Also it is cash only, which for me is a drawback because I don't like to carry cash for paying or coins for tipping.
MoreCountry Style Hungarian has been in business for over 50 years and my family has been going there since the beginning. Katalin and her daughter Katalin who is planning to take over if her mother ever decides to retire, doubtful are so awesome. The place is like stepping back in time to a simpler world. The food hasn’t changed and here that’s a very good thing. I always order the same thing, pork schnitzel with a side of beets and cucumber. I bring people with me so I can at least taste other things. I just simply can’t do it myself! So bring a load of pals and tuck into the Huntsman Platter, Chicken Parisian, dumplings, cabbage rolls and try, though impossible to save room for strudel. Cherry is my favourite which is not always there. Take it home. Warm it up when you have room again. Thank you @markhamfoodie for taking a few of the photos. MoreIt's so HOMEY. It's like food my mom used to make in gigantic serving sizes. If you're looking for the perfect place for a nice warm comfortable filling winter meal, would recommend 100%Service was quick and friendly
MoreThe restaurant is a small space. Better for groups of 4 or fewer, but can accommodate groups of up to 10 with advance notice. The restaurant is cash only and taxes are included in the menu prices. Every item we had off the menu was incredible. We ordered the wooden plate for 4 and had trouble finishing it due to how large it was, but every item was incredible. The cabbage rolls are massive and come with a hearty serving of sour cream. The lightly salted cucumbers are a great side and are actually a little sweet along with salty. We tried 3 different desserts (the crepe, custard, and strudel) and wish we had enough room for more, as every item was phenomenal. We will definitely be coming back again.
MoreThis place always delivers. They have fantastic dishes for affordable rates, there are no long waits even when they are full.
MoreNever dissapoints. Always a great home style meal. Accepting something other than cash would be a major bonus. It's 2018 after all.
MoreIf you are tired of hearing « is this your first time here? We have a tapas-sharing plate philosophy, so we recommend ordering 8-13 items each », Country style is the restaurant you want! Simple, hearty Hungarian dishes that sont leave you hungry. Try out the cold cherry soup available in the summer, it’s tasty, refreshing, and unique. Great staff and a laid back atmosphere. Cash Only, but an ATM is on the premises.
MoreAuthentic Hungarian cuisine, fast and friendly service. What more can you ask for?
MoreTheir food is pretty good except they don’t make the cucumber salad properly, no sour cream in it, they put onions & it’s sweet. Shouldn’t be in my experience from my family cooking. The paprika’s chicken isn’t red & greasy like it should be, it’s more of a gravy consistency which is way wrong. My mom & grandparents & aunts & uncles all came from Hungary. I know Hungarian food very well. It’s a nice little place but I really wish they would change the way they make some of the foods.
MoreGreat service!! Food is amazing!! Staff is knowledgeable and look sharp.
I admire this restaurant very much. It has a nice mood. The kitcen is good. the service is dynamic and the waiters are professional. The pay is reasonable. deeply recommend.
MoreOne of the best schnitzel places in Toronto! They serve Wiener schnitzel, chicken schnitzel, cordon bleu, vegetarian schnitzel. They are all large and very delicous. Sides are great too, mash, even the bread tastes like in Europe.Great place for a hearty bite!
MoreLiterally the best place to eat in Toronto. Its Cash only. I will go again every time i go to Toronto. Tasty food. Almost cried tears of joy while eating the breaded cheese
MoreHaven't Schnitzel this good since I was in Vienna. We got the platter for two and there was enough food for dinner and lunch the next day. Cabbage roll also great as was cucumber salad, pickled beets and saurkraut. Want to go back and try the goulash and some desserts. Service was good and the food didn't take too long. The place was packed- always the sign of a good restaurant. Take cash because they don't accept cards.
MoreHad a great experience in here with my daughter. The food was served fast and the customer service is just great. Prices are fair.
MoreI love this place. Reasonable places and delicious food. You won't go home hungry.
MoreGreat traditional Hungarian restaurant. Prices are a little high but it's trendy Bloor/Bathurst area. Great food and friendly staff. Small restaurant so better to reserve a table ahead for groups. A family birthday dinner favourite.
MoreFood was fantastic, very homey feel inside the restaurant. We were 6 people, and we ordered soup and the meat platter. We were all rolling out of the restaurant from being so full! Service was very mediocre, however. Waited quite awhile to be served, bread took a really long time to come out, when asking for condiments we had to remind the waiter three times until we gave up and just asked someone else passing by. End of dinner, we waited 30 mins for the bill, then decided to go to front and they didn't realize they never gave us the bill. At this point, the restaurant was really quiet so there was no reason for this many issues.Despite this, would still recommend the restaurant for the food.
MoreVery tasty food especially the stuff pepper. Wait staff was also very polite. Would recomend this restaurant to my friends!
MoreThey had quick and nice servers. The food is mediocre at best. We got the breaded mushroom, wiener schnitzel and goulash. You can't go wrong with deep fried mushrooms, those were good with the tartar sauce. The schnitzel was dry. The goulash tasted like a can of campbells vegetable soup (which is still good - if I just wanted canned soup).
MoreBlink and you will miss this restaurant located on a busy stretch of Bloor Street West. Super friendly wait staff, looks like mainly female cooks in the back. We ordered the 4 person platter. 2 huge cabbage rolls with sauerkraut. Sausage, schnitzel two ways, side of red beets and home fries. A lot of food yes. But everything needed one thing, salt. Suspect since mainly older clientele is the reason for lack of salt. Schnitzel really needs some kind of brown gravy, we had to resort to ketchup.
